Dear Snowflakers

Dear Snowflakers

The winter season is nearly upon us and we can’t wait to see you all and get back on the water. In order to make this happen as safely as possible your committee has been working hard putting in place some new measures, in accordance with Government guidelines.

Sailing kicks off on Sunday 18th October and here’s a few things you need to know…

  • Upon arrival please check in using the NHS Test and Trace App QR code which is displayed at the Club. If you do not have access to a Smart Phone you can record your details manually using the Contact Tracing Log.
  • The changing rooms will be closed and unfortunately it will not be possible to get changed or store bags in the Clubhouse, so please come dressed ready for sailing. This may mean adding your extra layers in your car or the car park. Changing towels are a useful accessory and available from a number of places, Amazon being just one suggestion! The use of the shower and the changing rooms will be available in the event of an emergency.
  • Depending on space availability inside you may need to watch the racing and socialise outside, even if the weather is poor, this is so we remain compliant with RYA guidance. With this in mind we advise all visitors to come wrapped up in plenty of layers and warm clothing.
  • We will be running a reduced programme of 4 races, with no racing taking place after lunch. This is to limit the number of people congregating on the Island during the usual lunch period. Please see the attached Club Card for timings.
  • Social distancing measures will be in place throughout the Island and Clubhouse, you will need to wear your mask when inside and follow the ‘Rule of 6’ at all times.
  • The galley will be open serving the usual teas, coffees and delicious bacon sandwiches, with a one-way system in place for ordering and collection. Please be aware that it is currently a legal requirement to remain seated while consuming food & drink. To avoid cash handling, contactless payment would be preferred if possible.
  • If you are displaying any of the Covid-19 symptoms, for the safety of yourself and others, please do not visit SFSC and be sure to follow Government guidelines around self-isolating and getting tested.

In addition to the above information we are delighted to share with you our brand new SFSC logo and online ordering system for all Club regalia.

Finally, we have received some questions about the Tri-icicle and Yeoman Nationals, which we are very happy to announce will be going ahead as planned on 25th October and 31st October / 1st November respectively. Details on the safe running of these events will be sent out shortly, entry will be online and must be received by the closing date so we can plan for the correct number of participants.

Thank you everyone for your support during this challenging time, undoubtedly this season will be like no other, but together we can make it an enjoyable and successful one.

Many thanks

Your SFSC Committee
